Job Description

An employer is looking for a Technical Writer for a remote, contract opportunity. This technical writer will be part of the Data & Analytics Enablement product team. This person will work with product, design, and engineering to create tools, training and documentation that enables collection, curation and use of data at scale. This role will work closely with technical data and analytics product teams to create a centralized portal to make it easy and fast for internal teams across the organization to know what data and analytics capabilities are available and how to use them to discover, understand and leverage data assets to create better products and services for customers and associates.



Domain Overview: Behavioral data is comprised of user actions (e.g. clicks, taps, views, etc.) on digital platforms (e.g. client app or website, associate picking app, etc.) with relevant context (e.g. timestamp, product information, etc.).



This data is essential to driving improvements to the customer experience and the client's business model. Product teams in this space are responsible for enabling reliable and usable feed of data that will enable mission-critical use cases including site or app enhancements, marketing and merchandising optimizations, and alternative revenue opportunities.



Conduct hands-on research and obtain necessary technical content from subject matter experts while translating it into clear, concise, structured documentation



Create and maintain internal and external documentation for technologies and tools used within the Data & Analytics domain and across platforms (web, iOS, and Android)



Create new content, edit content contributed from others, and reorganize existing documentation



Produce clear and comprehensive documentation-as-code for analytics enablement capabilities



Design, write, and edit technical and process documentation and cross-functional training materials



Collaborate closely with product, design, engineering and digital analytics functions to ensure the quality, discoverability, and accuracy of enablement tools and processes

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years software development technical writing experience, ideally across web and native platforms



Data analytics domain experience



Excellent written and verbal communication skills -- we are looking at the resume as a writing sample for ability to present complex topics and data in clear, concise text



Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills



Ability to proactively contribute to discovery efforts, clarify customer needs and collaboratively influence product vision



Ability to help drive large scale change via documentation, e.g. has lead transition and/or training to new documentation structure, new ways of working, etc.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Basic knowledge of Markdown/HTML



Experience using version-control platforms such as GitHub



Experience using Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira



Experience using PowerBI to create dashboards
