Job Description

An employer in the Cincinnati, OH area is looking for an Linux Administrator for a direct hire opportunity that will eventually be trained to become an Epic Cache/IRIS ODBA. This person will be part of the Server Team of a large health system. Their main responsibilities will be to support and maintain the Linux/Unix servers, as well as create and manage the Epic environment. They will mainly be responsible for the configuration and tuning of UNIX/RHEL systems, Cache/IRIS databases, disk management, software deployment, upgrade and patching, backup and recovery. They will also design, plan, and coordinate the installation of UNIX/RHEL server and Cache/IRIS database infrastructure including hardware, operating systems software, Cache/IRIS databases and Epic system software. The current team has around 12 members that primarily maintain the Windows and Linux Servers, as well as one Epic ODBA that is more senior and will be training the ideal candidate. The health system supports around 15,000 end-users total, and the Server team is in charge of 1500 Windows Servers and 80 Linux Servers. This position will primarily be remote, but as it is direct hire candidates must be located within 2 hours of Cincinnati and be expected to come onsite 1-2 times a month.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in IT

4-5 years experience in IT or related field

2-3 years experience as a Unix/Linux system engineer, admin, or similar role

Extensive experience maintaining a Linux environment

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Extensive knowledge or familiarity with IBM AIX OS

Experience as an Epic Cache/IRIS Database Administrator

Epic Cache/IRIS Database Management Certification
