Job Description

An employer is looking for a Technical Writer for a remote, contract opportunity. The client is an enterprise grocery store chain and the Tech Writer will be part of the Behavioral Data & Analytics Enablement product team. This person will work with product, design, and engineering to create tools, training and documentation that enables collection, curation and use of analytics data at scale. The success metrics for this product team will be data value, data quality, process speed (time to value), and ease of use. The role is ideal for an experienced technical writer who is passionate about enabling teams to maximize the value of their data.



Key Responsibilities:



Enhance and maintain user documentation for tools and applications



Develop on-line source documentation as needed



Maintain documentation libraries



Identify, create, revise and maintain document templates



Ensure appropriate control/access to documents and templates



Ensure content and format is consistent across all documentation



Complete documentation services requests as needed



Collaborate across Technology and Business teams



Partner with the appropriate teams to expedite issue resolution and manage to SLAs



Determine procedures for version control



Assist other Technical Writers as needed



Educate Technical and Business groups on the need for standard documentation



Make recommendations on documents needed by technical teams



Identify and initiate continuous improvement opportunities



Develop measurable and realistic work plans



Provides time estimate for projects

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years software development technical writing experience, ideally across web and native platforms



Excellent written and verbal communication skills



Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills



Ability to proactively contribute to discovery efforts, clarify customer needs and collaboratively influence product vision



Ability to help drive large scale change via documentation, e.g. has lead transition and/or training to new documentation structure, new ways of working, etc.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Basic knowledge of Markdown/HTML



Experience using version-control platforms such as GitHub



Experience using Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira



Experience using PowerBI to create dashboards
