Job Description

Position Summary
Our client, a leading energy and EPC organization, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the design and execution of high-voltage AIS and GIS substation projects. This individual will lead engineering activities from design through construction, develop technical deliverables, ensure compliance with industry standards, and partner with project teams to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities
• Lead engineering execution for high-voltage AIS and GIS substation EPC projects.
• Develop and review engineering designs, calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Establish project design criteria and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Provide technical support throughout project planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Partner with project management teams to support scope, schedule, budget, and risk management activities.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, construction teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and drive project success.
• Ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) requirements and engineering best practices.
• Support quality assurance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across project teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 7+ years of experience supporting AIS and/or GIS substation EPC projects.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage substation equipment and electrical engineering principles.
• Experience developing and reviewing engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and technical deliverables.
• Experience supporting substation projects through design, construction, and commissioning.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working within safety and regulatory compliance requirements.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Texas PE stamp strongly preferred.
• Located in or near Raleigh, NC or Orlando, FL.
• Experience working for an EPC firm supporting utility, transmission, or energy infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, NESC, and utility design standards.
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage substation design and construction.
