Preconstruction Electrical Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Insight Global's construction client is looking to add a Preconstruction Electrical Engineer to their Electrical Construction team in Stony Point, NC. This individual will support the Estimator on new project bids and winds, primarily examining construction drawings and specifications throughout the bidding process.

Responsibilities:
Preconstruction, Estimating & Project Support
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define project scope, perform takeoffs, develop cost estimates, and assist with proposals and budgeting.
- Support project execution by coordinating RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, procurement activities, and communication with owners, contractors, engineers, vendors, and field teams.
Material & Equipment Procurement
- Develop material and equipment requirements, solicit vendor quotations, and evaluate proposals for compliance with project specifications.
- Coordinate submittals, purchasing, delivery schedules, and long-lead items while maintaining accurate procurement records and identifying alternative solutions when needed.
Field Quality Observations
- Conduct jobsite visits to verify electrical installations comply with project drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
Document and communicate workmanship, coordination, or code-related issues while assisting with inspections, commissioning, punch lists, and project turnover.

MUST HAVES:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years of professional experience in a related industry
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and specifications
- Strong understanding of VFD's, also experience with low, medium, and high voltage electrical
- Analytical/detail-oriented individual
- Proficiency with the full Microsoft Suite

PLUSSES:
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
Experience working with AutoCAD or BlueBeam
