Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Safety Compliance Officer for a higher education client. This individual will lead and manage environmental health and safety (EHS) initiatives to ensure a safe and compliant campus environment. The role involves developing safety programs, conducting inspections and investigations, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, incident reporting, and delivering training across diverse groups. The ideal candidate is a proactive safety professional who can operate independently, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and serve as the go-to expert for occupational safety, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance.
Day-to-Day:
Develop, implement, and manage Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs
Conduct: Safety inspections, Risk assessments, Compliance audits
Create and deliver safety training programs and emergency preparedness drills
Oversee: Fire/life safety program, Fire/life safety programs, Hazardous materials and waste management
Fire/life safety programs, Hazardous materials and waste management, Chemical safety and SDS documentation
Respond to safety incidents and support emergency response efforts
Maintain compliance records, reports, and certifications
Partner with:
Campus Police/Public Safety
Facilities
HR
Academic departments
Act as subject matter expert on EHS, PPE, ergonomics, and workplace safety

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health, Risk Management, Public Health, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2+ years of professional experience in:
Occupational safety
Environmental health
Risk management or emergency management
OSHA General Industry Instructor certification (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Strong knowledge of:
OSHA regulations
NFPA standards
Hazardous materials (HAZMAT)
Workplace safety practices
Experience with:
Safety inspections, risk assessments, and job hazard analysis (JHA)
Incident investigations and reporting
Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Master’s degree in related field
4+ years of progressive safety compliance experience (higher education strongly preferred)
Certifications:
OSHA 30-Hour General Industry
OSHA Authorized Instructor
CPR/AED Instructor
FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) Certificate
Experience with:
Clery Act compliance
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs
Federal/state regulatory reporting
Emergency preparedness & business continuity
Knowledge of:
Public health (HIPAA, ADA, communicable disease prevention)
Ergonomics and infection control
