Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a CICS/MQ Middleware Engineer to support a mission-critical transaction environment. This individual will ensure the stability of messaging flows and application transactions across MQ and CICS. The role is highly operational, requiring hands-on troubleshooting, strong collaboration with developers, and the ability to respond to real-time production incidents. The ideal candidate thrives in high-pressure environments and can think critically to diagnose and prevent system disruptions.
Day-to-Day:
• Support CICS transaction environments and MQ messaging flows
• Troubleshoot message failures, backlogs, and transaction errors
• Identify root cause of system issues (often application-driven)
• Collaborate with developers to prevent production issues
• Participate in high-pressure outage calls and incident resolution
Review deployments and proactively mitigate risks
Pay $60-65/hr

Required Skills & Experience
Must-Haves:
• Strong experience with:
○ CICS regions
○ IBM MQ (messaging systems)
• Understanding of MQ → CICS → application transaction flow
• Proven ability to:
○ Troubleshoot transaction and messaging issues
○ Support live production environments
• Strong operational experience:
○ Incident management (P1/P2)
○ Root cause analysis
• Experience working directly with application developers
• Ability to:
○ Prevent bad deployments
Identify application vs infrastructure issues
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
• Hands-on coding or debugging experience
• Experience identifying application design flaws impacting performance
• Financial services / high-transaction environment experience
Exposure to performance monitoring tools
