Insight Global is seeking a Senior Manager – Transportation, Logistics, Fleet & Field Labor/Professional Services for a leading distribution client. This individual will serve as a strategic leader responsible for end-to-end sourcing, vendor management, and operational optimization across transportation networks, fleet operations, and field labor services. The role blends high-level strategy with hands-on execution, translating cost-to-serve analytics and business demand into scalable, efficient solutions.
This candidate will lead complex negotiations, drive supplier performance, and deliver measurable cost savings while improving service reliability across the network. Partnering closely with supply chain, operations, and finance leadership, they will influence key decisions around network design, outsourcing strategies, and labor models. The ideal candidate is a data-driven leader with deep logistics expertise, strong commercial acumen, and a proven ability to execute cross-functional initiatives that enhance both cost efficiency and operational performance.
Day to Day -
Develop and execute multi-year category strategies across transportation, 3PL, fleet, and field labor
Lead network optimization efforts (routing, cost-to-serve modeling, distribution efficiency)
Run RFPs, bid events, and supplier consolidation initiatives
Negotiate transportation rates, MSAs, fleet contracts, and labor SOWs
Analyze cost performance metrics (cost-per-mile, utilization, labor productivity) and build business cases
Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leaders to align strategy and execution
Own supplier relationships, leading performance reviews (QBRs) and continuous improvement initiatives
Mitigate supplier and operational risk (capacity constraints, financial stability, service disruptions)
Drive implementation of sourcing strategies with minimal disruption to field operations
Provide executive-level reporting and insights on cost trends, service performance, and optimization opportunities

Required Skills & Experience
10+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, fleet, and/or field services sourcing or operations
Proven track record of cost optimization, service improvements, and operational efficiency gains
Strong experience negotiating complex service-based agreements (transportation, 3PL, fleet, labor)
Expertise in cost modeling (cost-per-mile, TCO, productivity metrics, cost-to-serve)
Experience leading supplier governance frameworks (KPIs, SLAs, QBRs)
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives (Supply Chain, Operations, Finance)
Strong strategic sourcing and category management experience
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
MBA or advanced degree
Experience with network optimization and routing strategies
Background in fleet management (owned vs leased, maintenance, telematics)
Experience with field labor models (contingent labor, managed service providers, installation crews)
Familiarity with fuel markets, transportation rate structures, and logistics trends
Leadership experience managing teams of sourcing managers/analysts
Exposure to automation, innovation, and advanced logistics technologies
