Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer will support Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) projects for operating nuclear power plants seeking operation up to 80 years. The engineer will be responsible for aging management reviews, system evaluations, regulatory documentation, and development of Aging Management Programs (AMPs) in accordance with NRC requirements (10 CFR 54) and industry guidance.
This position requires strong technical evaluation skills, regulatory understanding, and the ability to develop licensing basis documentation supporting safe long-term plant operation.
Day to Day/Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Evaluation
• Perform Aging Management Reviews (AMRs) for mechanical systems and components
• Evaluate degradation mechanisms, including:
○ Fatigue, thermal aging, corrosion, FAC, SCC, erosion, and wear
• Identify and evaluate Time‑Limited Aging Analyses (TLAAs)
• Review design basis documents and plant operating history
• Evaluate pressure boundary components such as:
○ Piping, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, and reactor support systems
Regulatory & Licensing Support
• Prepare licensing basis documentation, including:
○ AMR reports, system scoping, screening determinations, and TLAA evaluations
• Support development of:
○ License Renewal Application (LRA)
○ UFSAR updates
• Respond to NRC Requests for Additional Information (RAIs)
• Support regulatory audits and inspections
• Apply industry guidance:
○ NUREG‑2191 (GALL‑SLR)
○ NUREG‑2192 (SRP‑SLR)
○ NEI‑95‑10
Aging Management Program (AMP) Development
• Develop or enhance AMPs, including:
○ Inspection, preventive maintenance, and condition monitoring programs
• Evaluate plant programs against GALL‑SLR requirements
• Identify gaps and recommend program improvements
• Support AMP implementation strategies
Plant Interface & Cross‑Functional Work
• Collaborate with materials, system, licensing, operations, and maintenance teams
• Support plant walkdowns
• Review Corrective Action Program (CAP) items
• Support operating experience reviews
Documentation & Analysis
• Develop engineering calculations and technical reports
• Maintain configuration control of technical documentation
• Support design change evaluations as needed

• 5–10+ years engineering experience - mechanical
• Experience in nuclear power engineering or heavy regulated industry
• Experience with:
