Job Description

The Transmission Protection & Controls (P&C) Scoper is responsible for developing detailed electrical scopes of work for capital improvement projects across the transmission system. This role operates with minimal supervision and applies advanced engineering knowledge to ensure constructability, regulatory compliance, and adherence to Duke Energy and industry standards.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in protective relays, instrument transformers, substation equipment, and fault duty calculations, along with experience collaborating across engineering, construction, operations, and project management teams

Required Skills & Experience

- Experience with SEL (Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories) protective relays - Ability to discuss specific SEL relay models and protection schemes previously worked on
- Working knowledge of instrument transformers (CTs, PTs, etc.)
- Experience working with substation equipment, including protection and control systems
- Experience creating electrical scopes of work for planned substation projects
- Experience performing QA/QC reviews of electrical and P&C designs
- 6+ year engineering experience
○ 4+ in design engineering
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer. A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
