Job Description
This role supports secure, mission‑critical platforms used by government and trust‑aligned teams and focuses on maintaining, enhancing, and safely extending an established ServiceNow environment.
This is not a greenfield build. You’ll step into a mature platform with defined standards, strong governance, and real production usage—where thoughtful change management, debugging skills, and collaboration matter just as much as writing new code.
What You’ll Do
Build & Enhance ServiceNow Solutions
• Develop and enhance functionality across core and security‑focused ServiceNow modules, including:
○ ITSM
○ CMDB
○ Vulnerability Response
○ Security Incident Management
○ Customer Service Management (CSM)
• Customize workflows, scripts, and configurations using JavaScript and ServiceNow best practices
• Extend existing functionality while maintaining platform stability and compliance
Own Change Delivery Using Update Sets
• Package and promote changes using ServiceNow update sets
• Ensure updates are complete, reviewed, tested, and safely moved between environments
• Troubleshoot update set issues and conflicts when they arise
Debug & Support Business Logic
• Work with different types of business rules (before, after, async, display)
• Debug rule behavior, execution order, and unintended side effects
• Resolve issues efficiently without introducing regressions
Work in a Secure, Governed Environment
• Collaborate closely with the IT ServiceNow Platform Team and cross‑functional partners
• Operate within defined admin and security guardrails
• Maintain awareness of ACLs and access controls (hands‑on changes are rare but understanding is important)
• Apply knowledge of IT operations and information security when designing or modifying solutions
Collaborate, Communicate, and Document
• Partner with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in code reviews and quality checks
• Create and maintain clear technical and process documentation
• Bring a customer‑focused mindset to everything you build
