Job Summary
We are seeking a detail‑oriented and organized Legal Assistant to support attorneys in a fast‑paced law firm environment. The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and legal support, assist with document preparation and filing, manage calendars and deadlines. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a professional setting and has experience supporting legal teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare, format, proofread, and file legal documents including pleadings, motions, correspondence, and discovery materials
• Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, hearings, depositions, and court appearances
• Assist with state and federal court filings (electronic and paper), including docketing deadlines
• Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files to ensure accuracy and confidentiality
• Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel via phone and email
• Perform client intake, track case information, and update internal systems as needed
• Assist with billing, time entry, and invoice processing (where applicable)
• Provide general administrative support including answering phones, scanning, copying, and mail handling

Required Skills & Experience
Required Qualifications
• 2+ year of experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or Administrative Assistant in a legal setting
• Basic knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and document formatting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Professional written and verbal communication skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a law firm (small firm experience a plus)
• Familiarity with electronic filing systems (PACER, state e‑filing portals)
• Experience with calendaring, docketing, and legal billing systems
• Background in [practice area if applicable: family law, litigation, personal injury, corporate, etc.]
