Job Description

The Facilities Project Accountant is a key member of the Facility Development Department, responsible for managing all aspects of financial administration and fiscal management for the department’s project portfolio. This role ensures strict adherence to the clients financial policy and procedures by all team members, including high-level stakeholders such as the Vice President of Facilities and the Senior Project Manager. The Project Accountant proactively communicates potential cost overruns and risks to management, coordinates and evaluates financial administration, project budgeting, and selected tax reporting, and is empowered to identify problems and recommend effective solutions. The position is characterized by a high degree of autonomy, requiring the individual to operate with minimal direction and supervision. Strong organizational skills, advanced cost analysis capabilities, and expert knowledge of accounting principles are essential for ensuring accurate and timely reporting. The role also demands demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, plus a minimum of three years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and advanced accounting skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Timberline software is a plus.
• Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to make sound decisions under tight deadlines.
• Proficient in computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and common communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).
• Three to five years of administration/accounting experience; experience with large-scale construction projects is advantageous.
