Job Description

Hendrick Motorsports is a dynamic and growing force within the defense industry. We are seeking a Robotics Engineer to contribute to developing cutting-edge unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and next-generation electro-mechanical equipment. This role operates within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment, focusing on challenging and impactful projects that directly enhance national security. This engineer will be part of a collaborative team, working to redefine the future of defense robotics. This unique environment combines the agility and innovation typical of a startup with the stability, proven culture, and established resources of Hendrick Motorsports.
Responsibilities
Assist in the design, development, and integration of robust mechatronic systems for our UGV platforms and robotic prototypes.
Develop, implement, and optimize software solutions for robotic control, sensor integration, navigation, and autonomy, primarily utilizing ROS2, Python, and C++ (Arduino).
Confidently perform electrical design and troubleshooting. Work hands-on with electrical components, including PCBA design and component sourcing, integrating various power supply systems (e.g., DC power systems, voltage steps, wire sizing, connectors), and creating reliable wiring harnesses. This also includes microcontroller integration.
Manage and maintain software repositories using Git, and operate within a Linux development environment.
Provide critical technical support and perform field repairs. Confidently diagnose issues in the field, clearly communicate information to end-users (non-experts), and determine solution paths. Represent Hendrick Motorsports at customer demos, industry trade shows, and technical meetings/calls. This role requires regular travel, including some weekend travel as needed, often involving travel with equipment for hardware demonstrations.
