Job Description

6+ years working as an enterprise architect in a complex, large-scale organization
In-depth knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)
Comprehensive experience of enterprise IT infrastructure, applications, data management/integrations, systems development, and business processes
Demonstrated experience with IT governance, and the ability to define IT principles, standards and framework that support the overall governance model
Demonstrated experience aligning enterprise architecture practice to business strategy, and the ability to map business strategy to IT capabilities and technology solutions
Effective facilitation and communication skills with all levels of an organization including IT Executives, Business Managers, Enterprise Architects, and other technical staff, both verbal and written
Ability to think strategically, manage responsibilities, define milestones, and plan with minimal day-to-day supervision

A large State Government client is looking for 4 Enterprise Architects to join their team. These resources are needed to meet the demands of ePMO and SITPO engagements as well as additional workload associated with NCDITs transformation to new service solutions and platforms.

The Enterprise Architecture & Innovation organizational unit ensures that solutions, either to be built or procured, align with the states and agencies goal to support digital transformation, IT growth, and modernization. The division works proactively to identify and implement new solutions based upon identified gaps to reduce redundancy of solutions, optimize costs, and mitigate risks. In addition, the division works with agencies to apply existing, new, and emerging technologies to transform and optimize business and operating models, helping agencies plan, design, innovate, orchestrate, facilitate, navigate, and operationalize the digital enterprise.

The Enterprise Architecture & Innovation division assesses the needs of customers, understands the technology used, leads the research on innovation, conducts proof-of-concept efforts, defines enterprise architecture standards and framework, improves processes, formalizes IT policy, develops technical standards and works directly with vendors to leverage technologies that improves service delivery and value across the portfolio.

IT/Enterprise Architect will work on a team of Enterprise Architects to ensure state applications and solutions meet the desired standards, governance, and architecture framework. This enterprise architect role is responsible the review and assessment of Information Technology alignment to business solutions. Additionally, the IT/Enterprise Architect may assist in the solution design and analysis of systems to support the state agencies use of infrastructure (datacenter and cloud) and services provided as well as engagement within architecture reviews for state enterprise IT projects and State IT Procurement.

The position has responsibility for systems analysis and design creation which includes assuring that business problems are fully understood, detailed requirements are investigated and proposed, and to collaborate with both internal and external teams to create architecture design. One of the key responsibilities of the position is to create architectural models/diagrams of existing agency applications from multiple disciplines (business, systems, data, and technology) by gathering information from various sources within an organization and through an iterative approach, gain the necessary insight to accurately depict the architecture within each discipline.

The IT/Enterprise Architect will plat a critical role in aligning state agencies need with technology solutions that drive innovation and manage/shape the overall IT strategy.

Common responsibilities of the role:
Collaborate with an enterprise-wide stakeholder group to assess, develop, and maintain the enterprise architecture strategy and governance in alignment with the state of North Carolinas goals and objectives
Evaluate current technology infrastructure and applications to identify areas of improvement and opportunity
Establish and uphold state-wide enterprise architecture principles, guidelines, and best practices to ensure consistency, interoperability, security, and optimization
Assess potential risks associated with initiatives as it is related to enterprise architecture and work with stakeholders to improve, protect and secure
Review, guide and support enterprise-wide IT projects and IT procurements governed by enterprise architecture
Evaluate third-party vendors and solutions crucial to the success of state projects and procurements, ensuring adherence to standards and integrations to existing solutions
Implement architectural standards, guidance and frameworks while keeping up with emerging technology trends
Publish architectural standards and frameworks in support of the enterprise architecture program
