As a Solution Architect, supporting SCOR's automated underwriting solution ("Velogica"), you will be responsible for leading a team of BackEnd Developers and Quality Analysts in the design, development, and maintenance of Velogica.
You will be responsible for the full software development life cycle, working closely with product owners, project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and ensure that the team delivers high-quality software on a prioritized schedule and within budget. In addition, you will be responsible for working closely with our Solutions team to define global practices and architecture and aligning the US team's practices and technologies with this vision.
The role entails
* Overseeing technology operations and evaluating established goals / timelines
* Ensure delivery and operations of Velogica and related solutions
* Lead a team of developers in the design, development, and maintenance of the Velogica system
* Planning and documenting technical specifications for features or system design
* Work closely with product owner, project managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements
* Developing standards, tooling, and procedures to ensure that quality standards are met and consistent
* Manage team performance and provide mentorship and guidance to team members
* Ensure that the team adheres to best practices in software development, including coding standards, including security, and testing procedures
* Ensure that the app and backend systems are scalable, maintainable, and secure
* Participate in the design and architecture of software systems
* Participate in the ongoing refinement of the Software Development Lifecycle and related practices as part of relevant teams or committees to ensure SOC 2 compliance and optimize team health and development velocity
* Discover and implement new technologies that yield a competitive advantage
* Receive, process, and document feedback from stakeholders and development teams to continuously improve our products
* Ensure high quality internal and external system documentation is created as necessary and maintained to be current
* Foster a team spirit of continuous learning and professional development to maximize team contribution and engagement
Required Skills & Experience
What you bring
In addition to fantastic digital solution abilities, you will have:
* Effectively leads and develops members of App/Dev team
* Strong knowledge of software development best practices and methodologies
* Strong leadership and management skills
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Experience with other programming languages, such as Python, and Ruby, is desired
* Experience with other cloud-based technologies, such as, GCP or Azure a plus
* Familiarity with development frameworks, practices, and technologies used for cloud-native applications is a plus
* Comfortable with technical and professional communication in English, both written and spoken
* Strong analytical skills and know how to identify risks and opportunities
* Amazon Web Services certifications desired
Required Skills and Experience
* Bachelor's or Masters's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
* 5+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on cloud-native, AWS solutions
* 3+ years of experience leading software development teams
* Experience with Agile development methodologies
* Experience with Java is required
* Experience with AWS required
* Experience with security and compliance as it relates to both team development work and the larger organization
