This team specifically will focus on the chemical and material aspects of these devices. Under the supervision of a R&D Manager, the Senior Scientist will be developing new chemical formulations (hydrogels, coatings, viscoelastic materials, dried reagents, etc.) and test methods for characterizing those formulations.

They will be responsible for:

*Chemical modification of polymers, particles, and biomaterials

*Performing synthetic chemistry techniques

*Testing physio-chemical properties using various analytic instrumentation methods (rheology, DSC, GPC, spectroscopic method)

*Assessments of function performance for in-vitro and in-vivo specimens

Required Skills & Experience

PHD or Masters + equivalent work experience in the fields of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Textiles, or related scientific discipline.

* Hands-on laboratory experience developing formulations using soft materials (polymers, emulsions, particles, biomedical polyesters, other viscoelastic systems, etc.)

* Experience operating commonly used materials characterization tools (for example, rheometer, spectroscopic methods, DSC, GPC, etc.) and interpreting resultant data

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

* Experience in basic synthetic chemistry (small molecule or polymer synthesis)

* Knowledge of polymer processing methods (extrusion, 3D printing, etc.), resorbable materials

* Experience with in-vivo testing of biomedical devices or prototypes

* Willingness to work occasionally with biological specimens (e.g. blood) for lab scale testing

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
