Job Description
* Insight Global is looking for Entry Level CAD Technicians all across the East coast. The CAD Technician I is an entry level position which requires development of knowledge in specific area of drafting, e.g., electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, or civil drawings with the ability to operate a computer aided drafting (CAD) system. Work is performed under supervision and is revised or spot checked while in progress. Incumbents are expected to develop skills in their area of expertise, and the ability to work with greater independence. This person will be utilizing drafting software to design telecommunication systems for a large Engineering Services company and a national telecommunication provider. This company has been awarded a project where they are designing fiber optic cable network upgrades throughout the Southeast. These upgrades affect the public's overall internet bandwidth and its ability to transmit data over long distances. While it is preferred for candidates to have exposure to AutoCAD/any design software, this client is open to candidates don't have experience and that are willing to learn. There is a two week training period where candidates will be taught everything they need to know in regards to design and the utilities industry. This position will be behind a desk/computer on a day to day basis utilizing the design software to complete projects. Candidates must be technically savvy, able to work Monday-Friday, 40 hours a week. These positions are a 4 month contract to hire with full intentions of going permanent. This person will mainly be responsible for:
* Creating diagrams, schematics, layouts, multi-view, and various drawings in accordance with clients' requests.
* Mathematical, geometrical, and minor engineering computations.
* Creating "to scale" engineering drawings using computer aided drafting system.
* Detailed design drawings according to engineering sketches, specifications, and field data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts. This would include: Backbone fiber, PFP cabinets, splitters, distribution fiber, 5G nodes, drop service, BIC, pole lines, make-ready, permits and other types of drawings necessary to produce telecommunication network job packages.
Required Skills & Experience
* Successful completion of high school diploma or equivalent
* 1-2 years of training at a technical school or equivalent experience
* Strong PC/IT skills (i.e. Word, Excel, etc)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Experience working in the communications/telecom or engineering industry
* College degree -- Bachelors or Associates
* Design Software experience (AutoCAD, Solidworks, MicroStation, Bentley, GNIS, Lode Data) OR an interest in learning design/creating 2D blueprints
* Restaurant/service industry experience
