Job Description
The HVAC Technician will be responsible for preventive maintenance, repair, and general troubleshooting of heating and air conditioning units, from large commercial to residential systems. This includes testing gauges and performing leak checks in mechanical rooms, dorm rooms, and residential houses.
Essential Duties:
• Installation and Maintenance:
• Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, including chillers, air handling units, controls, package units, split systems, exhaust fans, refrigerators, freezers, and hot/chilled water pumps.
• System Operation and Evaluation:
• Operate systems, examine, and evaluate equipment to determine needed repairs, and adjust systems for optimal performance.
• Component Installation:
• Position and install compressors, motors, condensers, humidifiers, evaporators, heaters, and other components per design specifications.
• Refrigeration Systems:
• Charge systems with refrigerant gas, test for leaks, and adjust units for proper operation.
• System Maintenance:
• Maintain systems by checking performance, diagnosing issues, and repairing or replacing defective elements.
• Electrical and Pneumatic Systems:
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical and pneumatic systems associated with HVAC equipment.
• Plumbing:
• Perform necessary plumbing procedures to ensure system operation.
• Preventive and Predictive Maintenance:
• Conduct regular preventive maintenance and participate in the site's predictive maintenance program.
• Versatility:
• Work on various units, from large commercial chillers to residential window units, in diverse environments like mechanical rooms, dorms, houses, and rooftops.
• Professionalism and Teamwork:
• Always maintain professionalism and collaborate effectively with a team of five technicians

Required Skills & Experience
• EPA Universal License
• General HVAC technician/mechanic experience in commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, or government facilities. Around 5 years of experience as an HVAC technician doing preventive maintenance, can be commercial and/or residential
• Experience with preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting HVAC systems.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems and components, with hands-on experience as an HVAC Technician, HVAC Mechanic, Refrigeration Technician, or Maintenance Technician.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• NATE Certification: Required for joining the team; JJWWS will provide the course for completion.
• Nassau County hot work: Includes welding and hot works; JJWWS will provide the training course to obtain this permit.
• HVAC Technician experience on government or military facilities
