Job Description
The Materials Manager oversees all site material control activities for a large construction project, ensuring materials are accurately received, tracked, stored, staged, and issued in alignment with project schedules and installation priorities. This role leads and enforces inventory discipline, owns system accuracy and material traceability, manages a team of Material Coordinators, and proactively resolves shortages, discrepancies, and workflow breakdowns. Success is measured by inventory accuracy, material readiness, exception resolution, and the ability to maintain a controlled, visible, and compliant site materials operation that supports uninterrupted project execution.
• Oversee all site inventory and material control operations
• Lead and manage Material Coordinators and site materials staff
• Ensure inventory accuracy, visibility, and system compliance
• Enforce controlled material movement and traceability
• Oversee receiving, inspection, and system entry of all materials
• Reconcile deliveries, shortages, damages, and documentation issues
• Conduct cycle counts, audits, and inventory validations
• Manage quarantine and disposition of nonconforming materials
• Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and field teams to support install readiness
• Track and report material and inventory performance KPIs

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of experience in materials management, inventory control, logistics, warehouse operations, or construction material coordination
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing site-based inventory or materials teams
• Experience supporting construction, industrial, mission‑critical, data center, manufacturing, or energy project environments
• Strong knowledge of receiving, inventory tracking, staging/laydown, cycle counts, audits, and discrepancy resolution
• Proficiency with inventory systems, ERP platforms, construction execution tools, and mobile or scanner-based technology
• Ability to interpret and verify purchase orders, packing slips, shipping documents, and inventory reports
• Proven ability to enforce standardized material control processes in fast-paced, active jobsite environments
• Strong organizational, communication, and escalation management skills
