Job Description
Role Purpose
Support the development of an automated steel fabrication factory by converting an existing reactor building design into modular, manufacturable components and defining the factory processes required to fabricate and assemble them. The focus is manufacturability, modularization, and factory process design.
Key Responsibilities
• Break down a large, monolithic CAD model into modular components suitable for factory fabrication
• Translate designs between AutoCAD (civil/architectural) and SolidWorks (manufacturing/engineering)
• Define fabrication and assembly processes for large steel structures
• Support factory layout decisions, including material flow, module handling and flipping, fixturing strategies, and tolerance/distortion management
• Collaborate with controls, automation, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are executable in a factory environment

Required Skills & Experience
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of strong, hands-on experience with both AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• 5+ years of experience in industrial engineering, factory design, plant design, or large-scale manufacturing
• Experience with large steel structures and design-for-manufacturability
• Ability to think beyond CAD into process, handling, and cost constraints
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Preferred Backgrounds
• Shipbuilding or heavy industrial fabrication
• Automotive manufacturing (robotic welding, precision environments)
• Aerospace manufacturing involving large welded metallic structures (non-composites)
