Role Overview
A global beauty and personal care company is seeking a Senior Manager of Safety & Toxicology – Cosmetics to lead cosmetic safety assessments and toxicology strategy across a global product portfolio. This role is a critical hire due to an upcoming departure, with ownership over safety reviews, risk profiling, and raw material assessments to ensure global regulatory and consumer safety compliance.
This position plays a key role in supporting global product development, regulatory submissions, and ongoing compliance across international markets.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Lead and oversee cosmetic safety and toxicology reviews for new and existing products
Conduct and approve risk assessments and safety profiles for cosmetic ingredients and finished products
Review and assess raw materials for toxicological safety, compliance, and global market readiness
Partner closely with Regulatory Affairs, Product Development, R&D, and Legal teams to support product launches
Provide toxicological input for global regulatory filings and registrations
Monitor and interpret global cosmetic safety regulations and toxicology guidance
Support responses to regulatory inquiries related to product safety and toxicology
Maintain and improve internal safety assessment processes, documentation, and standards
Act as a subject matter expert for cosmetic toxicology across global markets

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Toxicology, or a related scientific field
Advanced degree preferred (PhD strongly desired)
8+ years of experience in cosmetic toxicology or closely related consumer products field
Hands-on experience conducting cosmetic safety assessments and risk evaluations
Strong knowledge of: Cosmetic ingredient safety, Toxicological risk profiling, Global cosmetic safety regulations
Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, product-driven environment
Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
PhD in Toxicology or related discipline
Experience supporting global cosmetic portfolios
Prior leadership or mentorship experience
Background working with international regulatory bodies or global submissions
Experience in high-growth or consumer beauty brands
