Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Civil Engineer for an end client located in Spring Valley, NY. The Civil Engineer will support overhead transmission and substation projects by preparing civil designs, material specifications, and construction labor requirements. This role involves utilizing civil and structural engineering software to develop layouts, preliminary designs, and cost estimates, while applying civil site development practices such as grading, drainage, roadways, and right‑of‑way considerations. The engineer will take on project management duties such as coordinating with internal teams, contractors, consultants, manufacturers, and suppliers to ensure project performance, compliance, and timely execution. Responsibilities also include supporting EHV operations, reviewing maintenance designs, analyzing system issues, collaborating with real estate and community affairs on right‑of‑way matters, guiding design drafters, managing project budgets and schedules, and providing regular project status updates to leadership.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
At least 2 years of working experience within a civil engineering role
Highly skilled in site planning and site design
Experience performing civil engineering design using CAD‑based tools to produce construction drawings, design details, and layouts
Strong experience with civil foundation and grading
Experience supporting infrastructure projects, including preparation of engineering layouts, construction drawings, and design calculations for site development, foundations, grading, drainage, and structural components
Experience w. cost estimates, schedules, and design alternatives
Experience with permitting
Abiding by utility standards, codes, and best practices
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
