Insight Global is looking for a Transmission Engineer to work for an end client in Spring Valley, New York. This position will be working 3 days onsite 2 days remote. This person will be working within the Civil Substation and Transmission Electrical Engineering team. This role is responsible for transmission design and project execution relative to civil and structural engineering. This person will be working on projects relative to overhead transmission lines and electric substations. This role serves as the Project Civil Engineer on overhead transmission projects, supporting design development, cost estimating, construction specifications, and coordination with internal teams, contractors, and manufacturers. This person will be touching the full life cycle of transmission and substation capital expenditure projects. The position also supports EHV (extra high voltage) line operations, maintenance engineering, and system improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or 8+ years in transmission Design
Experience designing high-voltage overhead transmission systems and EHV (extra high voltage) operations
Familiarity with electric overhead transmission and substation construction
Civil and structural engineering knowledge related to electric power systems
Design experience with concrete, steel, and wood structures and foundations
Proficiency with transmission and structural engineering software: PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, RISA-3D, RISA-Foot, EPRI FAD
Experience applying civil site development practices for transmission projects, including: site planning, grading, excavation, drainage, roadways, and Right-of-way (ROW) considerations
Ability to prepare: engineering layouts, designs, construction drawings and design sketches
Experience developing cost estimates
Experience supporting construction oversight and project execution
Familiarity with project scheduling and management tools
Experience supporting EHV transmission maintenance projects and system issue analysis
Valid driver’s license
Ability to travel within the service territory for project and field support
Availability for storm/emergency response engineering assignments
