Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Engineer to support Central Engineering within a major utility’s Steam Plant Engineering organization. This role supports the engineering integrity, safety, and long term performance of steam plant assets and capital projects. Under general guidance, the Senior Engineer independently evaluates complex engineering problems, determines appropriate technical approaches, and makes sound engineering and economic decisions that impact operational reliability and regulatory compliance.

This individual will serve as a technical authority on assigned projects, representing Central Engineering in cross functional discussions with Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and external contractors. The Senior Engineer is expected to exercise independent judgment, uphold engineering standards, and provide clear technical rationale for design decisions, system modifications, and capital investments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 8+ years of professional engineering experience in design and applied engineering principles OR Master’s Degree in Engineering with 6+ years of relevant experience
• Proven ability to independently evaluate engineering problems and make sound technical and economic decisions
• Experience supporting complex, regulated environments such as generating plants, stations, or critical infrastructure
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain engineering decisions clearly to technical and non technical stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
• Experience supporting steam plant operations, generating facilities, or station based engineering work
• Experience reviewing contracts, bid packages, and vendor designs
• Experience supervising or coordinating work for professional and unionized employees
• Prior experience representing engineering in cross functional or regulatory discussions
