Job Description
A startup company with a mission to increase government transparency through an AI backed platform that delivers real-time, contextualized policy intelligence is looking for a Sr. Product Designer to join their team. This role sits remote in NYC- they will not be required to come in daily but should be prepared to do a once a week lunch in office or come in as needed to meet in person with the team. As the first Senior Product Designer on the team, this client needs someone who can own design end-to-end: facilitating and leading workshops (including discovery sessions, brainstorming exercises, and ‘how-might-we’ ideation), mapping complex user flows, crafting intuitive UIs, and delivering a design ethos and brand guide that allows anyone at the company to deliver on-brand outputs. This is a full-stack design role that spans UX strategy, UI craftsmanship, and graphic design. Holistically, the role will place a heavier emphasis on user experience, over UI.
This person will report directly to the CEO, and play a foundational role in shaping Abstract’s design language and design system. They'll work closely with product, engineering, and marketing to build a platform that not only makes government data usable, but delightful. The product design team will remain lean as we scale, with the expectation of you being the sole designer for the foreseeable future at Abstract. They will work will support the company’s go-to-market efforts by co-creating sales decks, marketing visuals, and graphics that communicate our value to enterprise customers.
This is an opportunity to set the design standard for an AI-first tool that is re-defining how companies, and ultimately the everyday person, interacts with their governing bodies. It’s a special time, as we have strong demand from enterprise pilots, and are on the cusp of crossing product-market fit into our Series A next.

Required Skills & Experience
• 4+ years of product design experience with at least one role at a startup that scaled past product-market fit.
• UX & UI: Proven ability to own the full product design lifecycle: research, wireframes, flows, prototypes, final UI.
• Workflow Design: Skilled at designing and redesigning complex user workflows, with a track record of simplifying processes and improving usability in enterprise SaaS products.
• Systems Thinking: Experienced in building design systems that scale across product and marketing.
• Graphic Design: Comfortable designing marketing and sales collateral (decks, PDFs, ads, landing pages) and/or working with marketing contractors.
• Collaboration: Strong communicator who works effectively with engineers, PMs, and GTM teams.
• Tools: Expert in Figma, with familiarity in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, Webflow, Jira/Linear, and emerging AI design tools (e.g. Diagram, Galileo, Uizard, MidJourney).
• Passionate: You’re passionate about politics, technology, and increasing government transparency.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience in legal tech (Like Harvey), government tech, or government affairs
• Motion/animation skills for product explainers.
• You like dark chocolate, bagels, or donuts (the CEO loves all these things and is curious to see who will bring it up during an interview)
