Job Description

As a Control Systems Research Engineer, you will:
• Work independently and collaboratively to develop and apply advanced technology solutions to products and services using modeling, advanced controls, optimization, estimation, AI/ML, and detection technologies.
• Validate the performance of developed solutions through simulations and application on target systems.
• Document technology and results through patent applications, technical reports, and publications.
• Stay current with advances in system technologies to identify new ideas and applications.
• Collaborate with colleagues across research teams and external partners from industry, academia, and government agencies.

Required Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications:
• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Engineering or a related field, with experience in designing advanced controls, optimization, estimation, or detection algorithms.
• Strong foundation in machine learning and artificial intelligence, particularly in control systems applications.
• Experience designing and implementing AI algorithms using large datasets, including Generative AI.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement algorithms for complex physical systems (e.g., mechanical systems, chemical plants, power systems, transportation, aviation).
• Familiarity with real-time system implementation across various hardware platforms.
• Exposure to industrial control hardware and software development.
• Experience with cyber-security algorithms and industrial applications.
• Proficiency in source code management tools (e.g., Git/GitHub).
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Experience with government funding applications, proposal writing, and program management (e.g., scheduling, milestone tracking, technical reviews).
• Proven ability to take innovative ideas from concept to deployment.
