Job Description

The Coding Educator is a key role that requires a proactive and knowledgeable professional with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to navigate complex situations with professionalism and consistency. This position involves applying advanced coding principles and guidelines to support effective auditing and education across various departments and teams. A broad understanding of healthcare operations and trends within the revenue cycle is essential.

Key Responsibilities
-Provide expert guidance on ICD-10 and CPT coding practices, identifying opportunities for documentation improvement.
-Deliver targeted education to coding staff and clinical providers within assigned service lines.
-Participate in quality assurance activities and offer timely feedback to enhance coding accuracy and compliance.
-Support onboarding and orientation of new providers, and contribute to ongoing annual training initiatives.
-Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
-Foster collaborative relationships across departments to promote continuous learning and improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

- Associate's Degree with 5 years of coding or coding/billing experience in a professional billing setting or High School Diploma with 5 years coding or coding/billing experience in a professional billing setting.
- CPC - Certified Professional Coder or CCS-P, RHIT, RHIA
- General Surgery experience (Colorectal, Bariatric or Vascular Surgery)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Bachelors Degree
-Experience using Epic platforms
