Job Description
The Junior Broadcast Engineer will provide hands-on technical support for daily broadcast operations, including troubleshooting signal flow, router issues, and equipment failures. This individual will assist with inventory management and support system upgrades across platforms such as Evertz, Grass Valley, Calrec, Sony, and Cisco. They will play a key role in a major infrastructure project involving the buildout and cleanup of approximately 60 production closets, ensuring proper cable management, equipment consolidation, and documentation. The role also includes collaborating with senior engineers on deployment efforts, some of which will occur overnight to minimize disruption. Maintaining accurate technical documentation and ensuring compliance with NBCUniversal’s broadcast standards are essential components of this position.

Required Skills & Experience
• 1–3 years of experience in broadcast engineering or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of broadcast systems and workflows, including video/audio signal flow and routing.
• Proficiency in network infrastructure, especially Cisco ACI, and familiarity with fiber infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and maintaining broadcast equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including overnight shifts when required.
• Previous experience with Jira or confluence for organization
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Familiarity with IP-based broadcast systems and SMPTE ST 2110.
• Experience with remote monitoring and control systems.
• Basic scripting or automation knowledge (e.g., Python, Bash) is a plus.
