Job Description

One of Insight Global's AEC clients is hiring an Assistant Resident Engineer to join their construction team supporting various construction projects in the New York City area. This is a full-time opportunity taking place onsite in the field 5 days a week. There will be 10% travel required in this role.



In this role, the Resident Engineer Assistant Resident Engineer will be planning, supporting, and managing construction projects ranging in size and budget. This may be one large, complex project or multiple-contract projects.



Day to day, this person will be supporting the Resident Engineer in managing the onsite construction team, directing construction representatives and coordinators on projects, monitoring the construction site, writing daily reports, working with change orders, and overseeing the work being done. They would be the sole owners representative onsite and would be onsite in the field every day.





Main responsibilities in this role include:

- Directing/Monitoring all construction management activities including managing construction teams varying in size per project

- Interpreting specifications, reviewing and approving designs from shop drawing professionals

- Internal collaboration: consultation to construction representatives, advise as a technical resource across other functional groups, engage in new business development alongside sales professionals, practice leaders and PMs through proposal presentation and maintain relationships with current and potential clients

- Preparing related reports and maintaining daily reports of construction activities

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of relevant experience

- Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering

- Strong experience with project management software

- Knowledge of construction management process, construction products, relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards

- Mechanical engineering experience: bar screens, pump stations, head works, process mechanical work

- Excellent understanding of all facets of the construction process

- Reliable transportation

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Civil or Mechanical Engineering Degree

- Engineer In Training (EIT) or pursuing a Professional Engineer (PE) license in NY

- NYC DEP Experience

- CAD Drafting Experience

- Experience with EBuilder
