Job Description

Responsibilities:
Help organization improve their efficiency and processes by analyzing data, identify areas for improvement in systems, and develop solutions.
Create monthly summaries of financial performance and key performance indicators
Support the financial monthly close process, including detailed analyses of sales, cost of goods sold, operating expenses, accruals, and title count
Maintain client royalty system data (licensors, projects, agreements, etc.), royalty accounting, and analysis. This includes preparing monthly accrual entries, recording related accounting, and analyzing unearned advances in accordance with industry standard practices
Track licensing agreements and outstanding payments
Process Inventory/Cost accounting transactions
Assist in the preparation of forecasts and annual budgets
Assist on special projects and analyses (sales trends, cost, profitability, etc.)


Day to Day:

Insight Global is looking for a Junior Business Analyst to join one of our large financial services clients. This individual will be joining their Central Accounting team and working with various groups of the business including marketing, production, editorial and IT. The ideal candidate with have prior experience with business processes in an organization that handles multimarket publishing of books and electronic resources in multiple formats including print books, audiobook, volumes, etc. They will be responsible for systems and practices around business operations within the accounting team that covers PNL, revenue, cost of sales, marketing, and royalties. They are expected to have excellent organizational skills, with an ability to multi-task and prioritize, ideally combined with an ability to see the big picture. They will work with data control, accuracy and consistency around vendor management systems.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:
3+ years of experience as an Accountant/Financial Analyst
2+ years in finance or accounting in an analytical position
Involved in month end close responsibilities- recording sales and receivable, cash receipts, cost accounting, etc.
Working with a physical product - accounting for Inventory
Intermediate knowledge of Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP)
Self-motivated, assertive, detail oriented, high degree of organization skills and the ability to appropriately prioritize assigned tasks
BA/BS required, in Accounting or Finance preferred

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:
Accounting support experience specific to publishing
Corporate book publishing or media industry work experience and/or knowledge highly preferred
