Insight Global is seeking a Transmission Relay Engineer for a major utility client in Spring Valley, NY. This role offers diverse project management experiences and growth opportunities.
Daily Responsibilities
1. Design and Application
- Work on designing and applying utility-grade relay systems for transmission and substation systems.
- Effectively use the Aspen One Line or CAPE system-modeling programs for fault current simulations and relay coordination.
2. Technical Tasks
- Perform relay setting calculations for electromechanical, solid state, and microprocessor type relays.
- Familiarize with vendor software, settings/logic files, and communication-assisted protection systems.
- Prepare design sketches and perform system modeling.
- Support field personnel and prepare outage reports.
4. Project Management
- Manage small to large projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
- Perform cost estimates and witness tests at manufacturing facilities.

- BSEE or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in substation engineering or related operations.
- Proficiency in designing and applying utility-grade relay systems.
- Effective use of Aspen One Line or CAPE system-modeling programs for fault current simulations and relay coordination.
- Experience with relay setting calculations for electromechanical, solid state, and microprocessor type relays.
- Familiarity with vendor software, settings/logic files, and communication-assisted protection systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, including budgeting and scheduling, with a focus on projects under $2 million.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with a customer-centric approach.
Proficiency with ASPEN and SEL/GE software
