Job Description

Supporting the Los Alamos Legacy Waste Cleanup project.

Leads, communicates and collaborates with team members and project staff to plan, develop, and
produce high- quality communication products in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Ensures projects adhere to schedules and deadlines; works simultaneously on multiple projects,
independently setting work priorities to meet changing deadlines and scope-of-work definitions.
• Ensures prioritization for deliverables are set and relayed and managed with team.
• Performs mechanical and substantive edits, correcting grammar, technical usage, content, and
organizational problems.
• Performs proofreading, grammar, and full edits on technical, general-audience, and administrative
documents; may rewrite or produce original writing.
• Composites (compiles and formats) large, complex technical documents using a variety of software and
equipment; determines file formats for graphic images and imports and integrates with text; imports and
formats tables; reviews final print and web quality and adjusts processes to accommodate changes and
resolve issues.
• Creates and uses templates and style sheets to ensure product consistency and quality; tailors and
improves templates and style sheets to fit project needs; responsible for helping to update and maintain
team templates, checklists, and guidelines.
• Maintains electronic drafts, reviews, finals, and archived files; organizes and retrieves archived files

Required Skills & Experience

Comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts, and techniques in technical writing and editing,
composition, and document production.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of nuclear facility requirements including conduct of operations,
engineering, and maintenance.
• Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels.
• Ability to train and mentor more junior staff
• Expertise and advanced experience in technical editing, including correcting grammar, usage, style,
content, and organizational problems; experience editing technical documents as well as other high-quality
communication materials.
• Expertise and demonstrated experience in composition, including compiling, formatting, and producing
regulatory documents for both print and web publications; experience compositing technical documents as
well as other high-quality communication materials.
• Project management knowledge and experience in coordinating publication projects, including
establishing and maintaining schedules; communicating and collaborating with project team members to
plan, develop, and produce high-quality communication products; and transmitting, organizing,
maintaining, archiving, and retrieving project files.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal; communicates clearly and
professionally via phone, email, and in person with multiple team members on multiple projects.
• Uses knowledge, experience, and judgment to solve problems, increase efficiency, and improve services
and products.
• Can be viewed as a capable independent contributor and is also effective and flexible in a team
environment.
• Is detail-oriented, highly knowledgeable, and organized; takes initiative and has proven ability to
multitask, trouble-shoot, and follow projects to completion.
