Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Construction Inspector to support a federal contracting client in El Rancho, NM. This is part of a large-scale infrastructure project spanning 11 disciplines, totaling over $1B in construction value. The Mechanical Inspector will focus specifically on the installation and inspection of mechanical systems, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with project specifications, federal standards, and safety requirements. This includes oversight of water filtration systems, pumping systems, motors, tanks, HVAC systems, and other mechanical infrastructure. The inspector will be onsite daily, observing construction activities, verifying quality, and coordinating with contractors and federal personnel. Travel to the project site in the Santa Fe, NM area is required (company truck and fuel card provided). This is a full-time opportunity with the choice of working 5-8s or 4-10s.

Key Responsibilities
•Observe and inspect installation of mechanical systems including: Water filtration and treatment systems, Pumping systems and associated piping, Motors, tanks, and mechanical equipment and HVAC systems and related components
•Verify all mechanical installations comply with project plans, specifications, and federal standards
•Inspect piping systems, alignment, connections, and system functionality
•Ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning readiness of mechanical equipment
•Monitor contractor performance and adherence to OSHA and federal safety regulations
•Identify and document non-conforming work or unsafe conditions and report to federal staff
•Maintain detailed inspection reports, daily logs, and photo documentation
•Attend safety meetings, progress updates, and coordination meetings as required
•Collaborate closely with contractors, engineers, and federal project teams

Required Skills & Experience

•3+ years of mechanical construction inspection experience
•Hands-on experience inspecting installation of: Water systems (filtration/treatment), Pumping systems, HVAC systems, Motors, tanks, and general mechanical infrastructure
•Strong understanding of mechanical system layouts, piping, and equipment installation
•Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, mechanical schematics, and specifications
•Experience with QA/QC processes, inspections, and system verification
•Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and jobsite compliance requirements

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

•OSHA 30 or RSHS 32 Hour certification
