Job Description

An Insight Global Client is seeking an expert in optics or opto-mechanical engineering. The candidate will be a core member of the Optical Engineering team and help direct fundamental system architecture decisions as well as drive detailed engineering at the subsystem and component level. The candidate will interact with thermal, coatings and mechanical engineering teams to define and understand requirements and constraints at all points in the engineering life cycle. An engineer with strong hands-on laboratory skills is desired for this position.

Remote with travel as needed, ability to relocate in the future to Maui or NM

Required Skills & Experience

- Master's degree
- Optical systems engineering, layout and requirements definition.
- Requires practical experience in solar, directed energy, or high powered space lasers
- Specific expertise in the design, development, and production of lenses and mirrors
- The ideal candidate should have practical experience and be able to lead a team
- Experience working with high-power lasers
- Optical design using basic geometrical optics principles and commercial software (Code V preferred).
- Knowledge of optical theoretical frameworks including radiometry, physical optics and Fourier optics.
