Insight Global is seeking an Application Engineer for a leading electrical infrastructure and power systems organization. This individual will serve as a technical expert supporting medium and high-voltage power cable applications across utility, industrial, renewable energy, transit, data center, and critical infrastructure projects. The engineer will perform complex electrical analyses, including ampacity, short-circuit, voltage drop, and impedance calculations, while partnering directly with customers and internal stakeholders to develop technical solutions. This role offers a unique blend of engineering design, customer interaction, field support, technical training, and product development, making it ideal for candidates who enjoy solving real-world power system challenges and serving as a trusted technical resource.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline
• Strong understanding of electrical power systems
• Knowledge of three-phase power systems
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and technical analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with medium-voltage or high-voltage power systems
• Background supporting utility, industrial, renewable energy, data center, or infrastructure projects
• Experience with cable applications, cable design, or cable installation projects
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, ICEA, UL, AEIC, IEC, and NEMA standards
• Experience performing cable ampacity, fault current, thermal, voltage drop, or impedance analyses
• Experience with CYMCAP, ETAP, SKM Power Tools, or Cableizer
• Programming or automation experience using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools

Day-to-Day:
• Provide technical support to customers, sales teams, manufacturing teams, and engineering groups
• Perform cable ampacity, short-circuit, voltage drop, impedance, and pulling tension calculations
• Review cable designs and customer specifications for compliance with industry standards
• Develop engineering studies, technical reports, and customer recommendations
• Interpret and apply electrical industry standards and codes
• Deliver technical presentations and customer training sessions
• Travel with sales teams to support customer discussions and project opportunities
• Assist with qualification testing, laboratory evaluations, and product development efforts
• Support cable installations, field investigations, and troubleshooting activities
• Stay current on advancements in electrical power systems and cable technologies
• Collaborate across multiple departments to deliver technical solutions for customers
