Job Description
Prudential is seeking a Data Scientist I to support the development of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions within its Retirement Strategies (Annuities) business. This role will contribute across both traditional statistical modeling efforts and emerging Generative AI initiatives, offering a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of core business analytics and next-generation AI capabilities.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in data science and statistical modeling, combined with hands-on experience working with modern GenAI technologies.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, and evaluate machine learning and statistical models to support business initiatives
• Perform hands-on data analysis, including data exploration, feature engineering, model training, validation, and testing
• Develop production-quality Python code and partner with ML engineers to deploy models into production environments
• Collaborate cross-functionally with:
○ Machine Learning Engineers to productionize models
○ Data Engineers to build and optimize data pipelines
○ Software Engineers to integrate solutions into business platforms
• Support both:
○ Business-as-usual (BAU) modeling (e.g., regression, predictive analytics)
○ Innovative use cases leveraging Generative AI
Research and apply new algorithms, modeling techniques, and AI capabilities to solve complex business problems

Required Skills & Experience
Required Qualifications
• Master’s or PhD in a quantitative field such as:
○ Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Econometrics, or related discipline
• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in data science or machine learning
• Strong understanding of:
○ Statistical modeling (regression, time series, inferential statistics)
○ Machine learning fundamentals and theory
• Proficiency in:
○ Python and SQL
○ Data manipulation, analysis, and visualization techniques
• Experience working with large, complex datasets (structured and unstructured)
• Ability to write clean, production-level code
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Experience with Generative AI and NLP, including:
○ LLMs (e.g., BERT or similar)
○ Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
○ Frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph
