Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Contract Scientist to support a leading consumer products organization within the sun care space. This individual will partner closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute research plans focused on sun care technology advancements. The Scientist will work hands-on in the lab formulating products, analyzing data, and translating findings into clear, actionable insights. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive scientist who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about innovation, research excellence, and product development within personal care.
Day-to-Day:
- Batch and support lab-scale sun care formulations
- Design and execute research investigations aligned to project objectives
- Capture critical experimental data and report findings monthly to stakeholders
- Write progress reports, test reports, and provide technical updates in meetings
- Maintain ongoing communication with cross-functional teams
- Support sun care product development and new method implementation
- Perform in-depth data analysis and integrate results into actionable recommendations
- Apply statistical analysis tools to product, process, and consumer data
- Identify and report Ways of Working (WOW) workflow improvements
- Utilize technical tools such as automated data systems, PLM, and Microsoft Office
- Maintain strong documentation practices in accordance with company policies
- Continuously build technical knowledge within sun care technology
- Participate in cross-functional project teams as a technical contributor

Required Skills & Experience

- 1–2 years of experience in sunscreen (lotions and sprays) or cosmetic product development
- General knowledge of cosmetic lab environments (ex: body washes, skin care)
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 2+ years of experience OR advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Science or Engineering
- Experience with sun care and/or skin care product development (formulation & packaging protocols)
- Strong documentation skills with high attention to detail
- Comfortable working cross-functionally and independently
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Experience capturing, analyzing, and reporting experimental data
- Proficient with PowerPoint and Excel
- Basic understanding of product/process/consumer-based research
- Ability to design, execute, analyze, and report research studies
- Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative testing, statistics, and DOE
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Direct sunscreen formulation experience
- Background working in large, well-established companies
- Extensive hands-on laboratory experience
- Experience with PLM systems or FormulaNet
