Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Associate Scientist to support the Delivery Materials team, which develops encapsulation systems used for fragrance delivery as a part of the personal care business group in Union Beach, NJ. The Associate Scientist will perform bench top wet chemistry experiments to develop and test fragrance encapsulation systems while working with fragrances, polymers, surfactants, emulsifiers, and other raw materials. They will prepare formulations and assess key attributes such as viscosity, visual appearance, and residual materials, applying polymer and colloidal chemistry principles to understand fragrance–oil–water interactions. The role includes using standard laboratory equipment, submitting samples to analytical and sensory teams, organizing returned data, and clearly recording and summarizing experimental results for the lead scientist. The scientist will also provide regular progress updates and maintain a clean, safe, and well organized laboratory environment.

Required Skills & Experience
Must Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in: Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science
- Laboratory experience (classroom lab experience or professor guided research is acceptable).
- Strong foundational understanding of basic chemistry principles (work with a lot of surfactants and emulsifiers(emulsions) in addition to the polymers (how molecules interact with the oil water interphase).
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to work hands on at the bench with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills for reporting results and observations.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
- Industry experience at a competitor or in a similar consumer products, fragrance, polymer, or materials science lab.
- Strong interpersonal skills; someone who is easy to work with and collaborates well on a team.
