Job Description
A telecommunications company in the New York Metro area is looking for a Senior Field Technician to join their growing team as they expand into new markets, and sit in New Jersey. This team is responsible for the support of Metro Ethernet, Sonet, Optical, and Carrier Wave transport technologies for their clients, who are mid to large sized companies. This team supports network configuration, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and maintaining enterprise voice and data WAN/LAN communication services.
In this role, you will be responsible for the installation and turn-up of the company's services at various Data Centers and customer locations in the local area, including installing and testing Fiber Optic Voice and Data services. You will install components to support Video protocols, connect AC or DC power to various types of equipment, and configure customer equipment per Design Layout Record (DLR). It is important to have a strong understanding of all aspects of installation and troubleshooting of Telecommunications equipment. You will be responsible for traveling to the warehouse to pick up equipment in Piscataway, New Jersey. You will be supporting a geographic territory east to west from Wall Township to the northern New Jersey border.
This position is a 6-month contract to hire, and offering a salary of $60,000-75,000, dependent on experience ($28-36/hr). Great benefits are offered both during the contract period and upon conversion. If you are interested, please apply today!
Required Skills & Experience
5+ year of experience installing provisioning telecommunications equipment supporting Ethernet, DWDM, SONET, IP and VOIP
Experience and understanding of Ethernet, DWDM, CWDM, VOIP, WAN/LAN, SIP, TDM, and TCP/IP applications
High-level understanding of Network Protocol Analyzers, Traceroute, Ping, and SNMP (T1, T3, OC3, OC48, OC192)
Experience with telecommunications test equipment (VeEX TX320, TX300, UX400, Optical DATA analyzers, Fiber Optic Light meters, AC and DC power meters)
