Job Description
A growing client focused on building customized automation equipment primarily for the Medical Device/Life Sciences industry is looking to grow their team with a Technical Writer to support their Hudson, NH facility. This small automation company has been in business for over 40 years, and continuing to grow and exceed customer expectations year over year.
This Technical Writer should have a background in hardware/mechanical equipment, preferably in the automation or medical device industries. Candidates should be detail-oriented, excel at multitasking, learn quickly, require minimal supervision to lead projects to completion, and have a proactive helpful attitude. We are seeking someone who feels confident with camera and video equipment, as well as Solidworks or a similar CAD program, to use as illustrations in the hardware documentation.
The writer will work closely with project managers, mechanical engineers, controls engineers, and other SMEs to create system manuals describing how each machine operates, safety features, calibration and maintenance procedures, etc. These guides will range in complexity and length, from 20 pages to almost 200. In addition, to complete their understanding of machine operation and construction, the writer will take the initiative to research existing project documentation, including design specifications, parts lists, and CAD models.
Responsibilities:
* Planning and writing system manuals, setup guides, and detailed functional specifications.
* Coordinating with project managers and SMEs to collect project information and adhere to the project schedule.
* Scheduling and hosting document review meetings in-person or via Zoom.
* Identifying and addressing content gaps.
* Participating in building a strong culture of communication.
* Participating in continuously improving established documentation processes.
* Capturing and editing demo videos and/or images.
* Contributing to the company web page content and/or company wiki.
* Submitting CDRH reports to the FDA.
Required Skills & Experience
Must-Haves:
- 5+ years of Technical Writing
- At least 2-3 years working with hardware/mechanical equipment
- Proficient with MS 365 Suite, Adobe CC Suite, Madcap Flare
o Illustration, video editing, and image editing skills
