Job Description
Burns & McDonnell's private wireless team is seeking a Radio Frequency Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Designer specializing in the design of mid to large-tier enterprise, manufacturing, stadium/arena, and airport DAS systems. As a DAS Designer, your responsibilities are to plan and carry out services necessary for all phases of the DAS lifecycle, including site survey, system architecture, layout and design, data analysis, supporting field validation, testing, system commissioning, and optimization. This position requires a technically proficient individual at DAS design and technology, which is organized and self-motivated and is focused on our mission to Make our Clients Successful.
The Designer will work with integrated system architecture, design, and engineering teams within our Networks, Integration & Automation department along with other Global Practices to perform the following duties:
* Strong technical knowledge of DAS network solutions and products.
* Ability to design complex, efficient, and cost-effective Neutral Host DAS systems in large enterprise, manufacturing, and airport facilities using iBwave software.
* Ability to build and maintain relationships with and coordinate with equipment manufacturers, contractors, installers, integrators, and operations teams.
* Ability to write / review design standards and specifications.
* Create, review, and maintain bills of materials (BOMs).
* Ability to review and cross-check specifications and BOM's against contractor submittals
* Work closely with engineering project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
* Work closely with engineering project teams and field personnel to incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into physical design and layouts.
* Support site walks, commissioning, and optimization work.
* Collaborate on the installation and testing of RAN / RF / DAS equipment with site installers. Support DAS troubleshooting, where required.
* Perform project tasks and assignments within budgeted hours and deadlines.
* Direct designs, sketches, and redlines or mark-ups on ongoing projects
Required Skills & Experience
* Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field OR technical degree
* 8+ years of professional experience (At least 5 of those years need to be related to DAS design/integration experience)
* iBwave certification
* Experience in in-building wireless industry
* Strong understanding of complex Neutral Host DAS systems
* Field experience with DAS integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, fiber optic, and category cabling
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Current BICSI RCDD Certification
* Working knowledge of JMA/TEKO, Corning/SpiderCloud, SOLID, ADRF, CommScope, Nokia, Ericsson DAS platforms
* RanPlan Experience
* Working knowledge of AutoDesk Revit and/or AutoCAD
