Job Description

A client headquartered in Cincinnati is seeking a Region Finance Manager to be based in the Kansas City area for a direct‑hire opportunity. This role provides regional financial leadership across multiple operational units and manages a team of financial analysts. The Region Finance Manager compiles and analyzes financial information under limited supervision, ensures accurate financial reporting, and partners closely with Area General Managers and operational leadership to support strategic and financial decision‑making.
This role supports bids, union labor models, forecasts, and budgets, while driving consistency, accuracy, and insight across the region.

Major Responsibilities

Leads the production of weekly, monthly, year‑to‑date, and year‑end financial reporting, including variance and trend analysis versus budget, prior year, and forecast.
Oversees monthly forecasting efforts and the annual budgeting process for all operational and functional units within the region.
Manages, mentors, and develops a team of financial analysts, ensuring high‑quality analysis, reporting, and professional growth.
Serves as a key financial partner to Area General Managers and regional leadership, providing insights, guidance, and decision support.
Provides analytical support across all levels of management, including ad‑hoc reporting, scenario modeling, and problem solving.
Ensures the integrity and effectiveness of financial reporting systems, including coordination with external consultants and ongoing testing.
Identifies trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings and recommendations to senior and regional leadership.
Reviews and prepares budget analyses and comparisons, recommending improvements to budgeting and forecasting processes.
Oversees financial forecasting activities and reconciliation of internal accounts across the region.
Reports and analyzes headcount, fleet management metrics, and key performance indicators to support operational performance.
Leads and supports training initiatives for location and regional leadership, improving financial acumen and consistency across the organization.
Drives continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting accuracy, and cross‑functional collaboration.

Required Skills & Experience

8+ years' experience in financial planning and analysis
Previous Financial Leadership experience
People managing specifically in years prior
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel.
Experience with Financial Reporting Software for budgeting and forecasting (any major platform, SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, something other than Quickbooks)
Experience working within a blue collar industry (NOT healthcare or banking)
Working on site at multiple locations, for profit companies
Experience explaining financial vocabulary to non-financial managers
Experience with P&L

Transportation or waste management industry experience
