Job Description

An employer is looking to add a Lead Mass Properties Engineer to their team in St. Louis, MO. This position will be responsible for coordination of the mass properties team, completion of vehicle weight reporting, and final aircraft weights. They will work with the Engineering and Manufacturing Development of 7 flight vehicles and two full-scale test articles. This person will lead a team of Mass Properties engineers to control weight and balance characteristics of the aircraft in order to meet performance requirements. They will be responsible for developing and presenting weight status or technical data to program management, the customer or design groups. They will be responsible for coordination of full aircraft weighing and weight reports and determining approaches to and leading development of, complex weight, balance and mass properties data and related design requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of Mass properties experience

Experience with aircraft weight and center of gravity estimation, calculation, verification and statistical analysis

Bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or related technical field of study

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Project management skills and the ability to work multiple projects simultaneously

The ability to lead the implementation of process improvement

Ability to use a variety of media, clearly conveys information and ideas to individuals or groups

Ability to apply knowledge of engineering data (e.g., blueprints, data sets, specifications, logic diagrams, electrical circuit schematics) to interpret, analyze, and develop data for support requirements

Worked directly with military customers on programs

Experience with the Common Mass Properties Analysis Tool (CMPAT)

3+ years' experience with engineering Bills of Material (BOMs) and Product Data Management (PDM) systems

Experience with Product Data Management tools/systems such as TeamCenter and ENOVIA

3+ years' experience with 3D solid modeling software applications (e.g. NX, Catia, CADD)

Experience with applicable industry recommended practices (SAWE RP 7 & 8) and Joint Service Technical Manual for Aircraft Weight and Balance

3+ years' experience with weights and/or mass properties engineering

Experience with Weight Control methods and techniques
