Job Description
An employer is seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Automation Engineer to join one of our largest national manufacturing clients for a year long contract at their plant in Hutchinson, MN. In this role you’ll need to go on site at least 4 days a week, as collaborating with team members and stakeholders is a pivotal part of this role. In this role you’ll join a growing team of 8-10 people and will play a pivotal role in implementing Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs). This team already has another engineer and a project manager to head up this work but are adding to this team given the size and scope of work needed to get done. Any prior experience working with warehouse automation software will help you be successful on this team. This role will require collaboration and interaction with team members and stakeholders across the organization; therefore, strong communication is needed in order to be successful in this role. This role could extend past 1 year depending on your performance, and how much work is needed to maintain and support these AGVs once this is implemented.
Responsibilities:
• Keeps up to date with safety regulations, policies, and compliance requirements.
• Leverages internal and external professional networks to stay current on industry trends.
• Produces or oversees documentation such as reports and presentations.
• Continuously updates knowledge relevant to project execution and leadership.
• Identify and drive actions around project impacts to Operations/Warehouse
• Coordinate the development and execution plan for document & training updates
• Collaborate with Plant Engineering to maintain and improve current/future planned maintenance around warehousing infrastructure (ie: automated guided vehicles, automated storage/retrieval system)
• Demonstrates recognized expertise in project leadership and Warehouse/Logistics practice while also maintaining expertise in a functional area sufficient to carry out project leadership duties.
• Assumes responsibility, with minimal supervision, for projects which are typically medium to large in scale with moderate risk and impact to the Division/Business/Staff unit.
• Possesses expertise in project leadership that is recognized within multiple Divisions and/or within the company.
• Serves as mentor to existing and potential future team leaders within the business unit, Business/ Staff management, and stakeholders.
• Maintains expertise in a functional area sufficient to carry out project leadership duties and to effectively leverage a network of company and industry resources.

Required Skills & Experience
• At least 5 years of prior professional experience, ideally as an automation engineer within supply chain, logistics or distribution
• Bachelors degree within an engineer or industrial field, or equivalent experience
• Experience working with Automated Guided Vehicles is ideal
• Collaborative and go getter personality
• Prior hands-on experience with deployment of warehouse operations such as automated put away/reach trucks, case picking, trailer loading/unloading, labeling systems, pallet/case storage retrieval systems, mixed case palletizing, automatic stretch wrappers, and related technologies.
• Experience working with leading warehouse automation suppliers such as Dematic, Vanderlande, SwissLog, Fortna, etc.
• Experience working with autonomous vehicles suppliers such as Dematic, Balyo, OTTO, Kuka, etc.
• Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), Manufacturing enterprise systems (MES), fleet management, workflow integration.
• Ability to commute to the Hutchinson, MN plant at least 4 days per week
