Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an E&C Engineer to support a leading utility company's Renewables organization. This individual will be responsible for managing a portfolio of capital improvement projects across multiple wind generation facilities throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, and surrounding regions. The engineer will oversee projects from initial planning through execution, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule objectives are achieved.

This is a highly autonomous project management role that requires strong coordination with Operations & Maintenance (O&M) teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have an engineering background, project management experience, and exposure to renewable energy generation, particularly wind energy.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of approximately 10-12 capital projects annually across wind generation facilities
Plan, schedule, and execute projects from initiation through closeout
Coordinate with Operations & Maintenance teams to prioritize and execute work
Manage contractors and vendor relationships throughout project lifecycles
Order project materials and equipment while monitoring budgets and schedules
Conduct equipment evaluations and limited research to identify optimal technical solutions
Develop project forecasts, budgets, and long-term capital plans
Track project performance, ensuring quality standards, schedule adherence, and cost control
Travel to wind farm sites during construction activities to oversee project execution
Provide regular project updates and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders

Logistics
Schedule: Monday-Friday, flexible start times
Typical hours: 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Work Environment: Hybrid (4 days onsite, 1 day remote)
Travel: Approximately 10-15%, occasionally up to 20% during active construction periods
Relocation: Open to non-local candidates willing to relocate at their own expense
Parking: Free onsite parking available

Required Skills & Experience

Must-Haves
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline)
3-7 years of engineering and/or project management experience
Experience managing capital projects from planning through execution
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience working cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, contractors, or field teams
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
Valid driver's license and ability to travel approximately 10-15%

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Nice-to-Haves
Renewable energy industry experience, specifically wind generation
PMP Certification
Professional Engineer (PE) License
Experience supporting solar, hydroelectric, battery storage, or other renewable generation assets
Previous experience working for a utility company, renewable developer, or wind turbine OEM (Vestas, GE, Siemens Gamesa, etc.)
