Job Description

*Candidates must sit local to Milwaukee, WI. This role is hybrid.*

Insight Global is working with a client that builds and supports custom, high‑performance computing systems to identify a temporary Electrical Engineer to join their team. This role will support an urgent project in Milwaukee, WI. The main responsibility will be to assist in board bring up of various boards from power-on to functional validation and documenting signals, find and resolving problems through the following:
• System Integration & Design: Integrating high-speed interfaces like PCIe and control buses (I2C, GPIO, SPI).
• Hardware Bring-up & Debug: Performing initial power-on, board bringing-up, and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers to resolve complex hardware problems.
• PCB Design & Layout: Possible review of schematics, layout for signal integrity, and managing power distribution.
• Validation & Testing: Developing test plans for PCIe compliance, sensor functionality, and system reliability under various conditions.
• Interfaces: Knowledge of PCI Express (PCIe), I2C, GPIO, SPI, and UART.
• Hardware Knowledge: Experience with microcontrollers (ARM, RISC-V), FPGAs, and high-speed design principles (Signal Integrity/Power Integrity).
• Tools: Experience with Altium, protocol analyzers (I2C, PCIe), oscilloscopes, DMM, on-board troubleshooting. Experience with surface-mount soldering, hot air reflow, component removal. Familiarity with EVT, DVT, PVT approaches in board production.

This position will be a hybrid role out of Milwaukee, WI. The candidate will be working from home some days, and then on the site of the project in Waukesha, WI other days.

The hourly rate will be between $45.67/hr - $57.69/hr to be determined based on factors including education and relevant experience. The candidate will be eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits from day one if they choose to enroll.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 5 years working experience in electrical engineering
• Skilled in high-speed interfaces like PCIe, I2C, GPIO, SPI
• Basic understanding of microcontrollers, FPGAs, and high-speed design principles
• Has used Altium or similar tools
• Understanding of PCB layout and design from a manufacturing and troubleshooting perspective
BS in Electrical Engineering
