Job Description

An employer is looking for a Data Management Custodian for one of our top Utility clients in the Nation. This role focuses on consulting for individual capital projects to ensure compliance with established data governance standards and frameworks. The consultant will implement data management practices, assess and mitigate data quality issues, and support the end-to-end data lifecycle for specific projects. The role involves facilitating the application of key performance indicators and ensuring adherence to data governance policies. Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Tool & Framework Development:
Design and build internal utilities, libraries, and frameworks to support data quality, ETL controls, and metadata management.
Develop reusable components that integrate with existing data pipelines.
Collaboration & Requirements Gathering:
Work with other data engineers to gather detailed requirements for tool development.
Consult with internal teams to ensure alignment with business needs and technical feasibility.
Integration & Deployment:
Integrate developed tools into the Databricks environment.
Support future integration of Databricks tools with external systems via APIs.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3-5+ years of expertise in data governance, data management, and data quality.
- 1-2+ years of Data Engineering experience with Databricks and Python
- Hands-on experience with Databricks (preferred but not required if candidate has strong tool-building experience in similar environments).
- Experience with Python - Strong scripting and automation capabilities.
- Experience developing utilities, libraries, and frameworks for data platforms.
- Experience with GitLab - experience with version control and collaboration workflows.
- Data Management & Governance experience: Understanding of metadata management & familiarity with data quality frameworks and automation
- General knowledge of data warehousing concepts (Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server acceptable)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Process expertise across multiple data domains.
- Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and issue remediation.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Exposure to tools such as Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog, and monitoring frameworks.
- Understanding of data quality, metadata management, and ETL control frameworks.
- Familiarity with open-source software used in data engineering contexts.
