Job Description

The Patient Navigator / HAI Education Specialist (PN) is a key member of the HAI Patient Connect program. The PN fields inquiries from patients and caregivers interested in learning about Hepatic Artery Infusion (HAI) therapy. HAI therapy is a treatment that delivers medicine directly to tumors in the liver, using an implantable pump. The PN then provides education and resources to those considering HAI therapy and may facilitate connections to nearby hospitals that offer HAI therapy. The PN tracks and regularly reports on the progress of the Patient Connect program to management and evaluates opportunities to improve the program. The PN may perform other activities as requested by the direct manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must excel at each essential duty. Specifically, this includes understanding the approved cancer indications for HAI therapy, developing expertise on the patient experience with HAI therapy, ensuring timely outreach in response to inquiries, answering patient/caregiver questions during the discussion, connecting them with hospitals that offer HAI therapy, and following up with additional information and outreach as needed. The PN also needs to have the flexibility to shift hours later one or more days per week, which allows for connecting with patients/caregivers who are on the west coast or who would like to speak in the evening. Other duties may be assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in direct patient care or navigation settings
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail
Ability to be a great listener and have empathy in patient communications
Ability to communicate in a highly professional manner with patients and customers, verbally and through email
Ability to follow HIPAA and manage confidential information in a highly regulated environment
Highly organized and punctual
Operates in a customer-first mindset, with a focus on how to best serve patients
Ability to work with minimal supervision and with a sense of urgency
Bachelors degree

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Oncology experience, either in clinical or industry
-Nursing background and education
