Job Description

An employer is looking for a highly skilled Jr Accountant / Project Manager to join one of our largest national healthcare clients for a hybrid opportunity in St. Louis Park, MN. This team is flexible with their hybrid requirements, and most employees go into the office 1x/week. In this role you will join a growing accounting team and work alongside an accounts payable specialist, an accounting manager, accounting director and controller to do reconciliations, vendor review and onboarding, purchase order creation and processing along with other misc. tasks. This team does not have a solidified accounting process, therefore you must be willing and able to take feedback in order to implement a better process within this group. Previous experience working as a project manager, or leading previous projects will help you be successful on this team. The ability to effectively communicate cross functionally with team members and stakeholders will also help to ensure success on this team. This is a smaller team, therefore you must be comfortable taking on tasks as they come and working as a team player. This position has a high potential for conversion to a permanent employee, and the possibility of promotion to management in the future as this is a growing team. This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of going into their St. Louis Park location 1 day / week.



Responsibilities:

-Fill a key role in developing and implementing a front-end spend control process which would include contract review, vendor on-boarding, and purchase request and purchase order discipline.

-Track all new and existing vendor contracts noting key financial terms, including renewal dates, payment terms, cancellation provisions, and other deadlines as applicable.

-Set up and have ownership of purchase order records for all new and renewal contracts.

-Collaborate with business owners, accounting team, and vendors on all purchase order inquiries and related needs.

-Assist leadership with reporting of spend by vendor for each department or entity.

-Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.

-Prepare monthly vendor accruals leveraging purchase order details to support month end close process.

-Prepare monthly allocations of expenses to the correct entities.

-Complete monthly account reconciliations for assigned balance sheet accounts.

-Assist with other monthly accounting duties as assigned

-Communicative cross functionally with vendors, team members and leaders

Required Skills & Experience

-At least 2 years of experience working within the accounting space or a related field

-Previous experience leading a project, or working as a project manager or project coordinator

-Ability to effectively take feedback, and communicate with peers, stakeholders and leaders.

-Previous experience working with purchase orders, and/or purchase order creation

-Ability to work in a hybrid setting and commute to the St. Louis Park location 1x/week

-Exposure to spend management

-Experience doing reconciliations

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Bachelors degree in accounting or related field
